True, if you valued all sentient life equally you would be foolish and
impractical, however I don't believe you are either of those things.
I also don't believe for one nanosecond that you or any human being
who ever lived values all sentient life equally.

And I don't understand why you keep talking about the Tit for Tat strategy,
it's useless if your opponent follows Tit Tit Tit. If the WTC was the TIT
what was the Tat? Just existing near as I can tell, or perhaps being prosperous
and not being a brainless Islamic fundamentalist.
