I can't really excuse analysis based on this kind of thinking.
Wall street banker=100pts Poor afghan peasant=1pt. What ppl who
are indulging in here.Is not only the same kind of narrow sighted
relativism that allows ppl to butcher others, who they rate as being
of lesser value. Precisely the kind of value the 911 fanatics must
have held.
But no one seems to consider the lost potential. How can anyone
reliably know what lost potential there is in every 5,000-10,000 lost
third worlders. Lets not forget how many of the great designers and
innovators came from dirt poor immigrant backgrounds. How many major
names in modern science are descended from Asian immigrants ??
IMHO this is the one issue that makes the idea thoroughly un-Extropic,
and even possibly a Entropic mem.
I understand the value of wanting to explore ideas in a freeform nature.
IMHO these kind of ppl as resource ideas can be dismissed after few
minutes of thought. Maybe am being lead to a Knee-jerk reaction by my
empathetic nature. Still am sure this debate will continue.
Thanks
Zeb
