As much as I would like to believe that voting for a minor party really
makes a difference, the reality is that it doesn't. It is true that I'm a
libertarian, and perhaps I would vote for a libertarian party if Canada had
one (I'm not eligible to vote in the US), but I am realistic in that I
strongly doubt that any major world governments will become Libertarian in
the next number of terms. Unless you truly believe that a Libertarian (or
other minor party) can change enough minds to become a contender, then the
vote itself has only a moral appeal...which may be enough for some people.
If you strongly believe in a minor party, the best thing you can do for it
is not so much to vote, but to get involved. Send out flyers, press
buttons, give radio interviews etc. Otherwise, the "herd" will continue to
do what it has done for centuries prior: follow the leader.
