By definition, a Singularity (according to Vinge) is unpredictable. If Vinge
is wrong and there is something discernible beyond the Singularity, I will
guess that a lot of the personalities (uploaded) who initiate star travel
will be similar to personalities today, who are scientists, and naturalists.
Perhaps, most of the "trekies" will be more drawn to fantasy environments,
such as the "Trek Universe", Middle Earth, Known Space, whatever appeals.
Perhaps, the great silence, means the visible universe becomes The Land of
the Lotus Eaters, where every being immerses themselves in a satisfying
fantasy realm?
