Just a quick post...
I have a friend who once, after I expressed my prediction that computing intelligence would superceed human intelligence, proclaimed this belief a religion. AT that time I didn't know how to reply.
Today, looking back with a dictionary and more knowledge of these concepts, I can proclaim Extropianism not a religion, even if Extropians base their belief with varying levels of faith.
The dictionary says for religion:
1) A strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny
Hmm.. Does that make world governments and powerful global corporations like M$ religions since they can control human destiny?
2) Institution to express belief in a divine power
Any comments?
