The true and original meaning of "condescend" is to waive dignity or rank--to accommodate oneself to a social inferior.
I daresay that you both mean "to deal with people in a patronizing way".
Some dictionaries might approve of that usage.
It is as wrong as using "infer" and "imply" interchangeably.
