The Singularity is defined to occur as soon as any greater-than-human
intelligence comes into existence - big or small. It has to be genuine,
hardware transhumanity, not just humans put together in interesting
shapes, but that's it.
Infinite informational processing in finite physical time is an unresolved
issue in modern physics. It certainly forms no part of the definition of
the Singularity, or of the "necessary and sufficient" conditions for the
fulfillment of SIAI's goals.
