i dont' think that having a set or range of views that put you within or
without a group really qualifies said group as a cult.
after all, if you reject all of John Paul II papal bulls, it's rather
obvious you're not a catholic. and for a less hotbutton issue, (as i'm sure
some on here would argue that all religions are cults) if you reject the
book The Elegant Universe, it's somewhat obvious you're not a superstring
theory supporter.
does this mean that superstring theory has it's own cult?
or that libertarians, because they have a certain range of beliefs that can
be determined or rejected, are likewise a cult?
i think not. transhumanism is a particular range of beliefs, which i think
are well represented by Mike's list of authors. And if a person disagrees
with all of them, it would be safe to say they should call themselves
something else, to avoid confusion.
