my reasoning is as follows. i too feel that accelerating the
singularity is theoretically max bang/buck. however, the fact is that the
public are not funding singularity research right now, mostly, we think,
due to ignorance/bad pr. so for the same reason that eliezer hopes that
ben becomes wealthy so that siai could get funds, i hope that through a
little circuitous infusion of capital we may be able to improve our image
such that funding becomes easy. but i must admit though, this is a leap of
faith.
