Um, "buying" may be a bit of an exaggeration, apparently. I found
another news story posted on Usenet (from
http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/ptech/03/30/langley.supercomputer/index.html )
that contained the following quote:
"A Star Bridge Systems representative declined to discuss the price of
the HAL-15. But the Langley researchers worked out a pretty nice deal to
use one.
'It'll cost us absolutely not one penny,' said Langley spokesperson Bill
Uher."
