This reminds me on an old movie with Doris Day and Rock Hudson. They were with
competing advertising companies. One of the companies came up - obviously under
pressure - with a whole bunch of glitzy TV ads for ... IT. After some time, of course, the
people wanted to buy IT. One sentence I remember from this movie is: "We created a
market for something that doesn't even exist!"
The company ended up with getting a scientist to invent something for them:
Cookies which looked like cookies, tasted like cookies - but had the effect of booze in
everybody's bloodstream.
