Yes. Most NRA members are not extremists. They want the right to
carry arms as defined in the constitution.
Most NRA members do not try to stretch this right to newborn babies,
insane persons, non-citizens, or other people who do not normally
receive constitutional rights. Most NRA members do not try to
stretch arms to include homemade nukes, homemade bio-weapons, private
armies, and setting up their own governments. They have some limits
to their position, and do not push it to unreasonable extremes.
Presumably, if all gun laws are rewritten to protect second amendment
rights, the NRA would disband with their goals achieved. Only the
extremists would want to keep the organization alive beyond its
stated goals. To the extremists, the organization, the cause, and
the struggle become more important than the people, the objective and
the success of the fight.
