Hal referred to a talk by Tim Berners-Lee on the semantic web. Here's

It's encouraging that Oracle just joined rivals Microsoft and IBM (and many
other major software companies), backing the UDDI. It'll be extremely
interesting to see how XML and the web services built on top of this
develop. I already need to update my presentation, "Web Services:
