I guess most of those events could be called "politics." But I suppose I
was using the word in a much more limited sense (i.e. what most people think
of when you say "politics" - the antics of "politicians"). In that sense,
the only things on your list that would cut it (in my mind) are Nixon and
McCarthy. IMO neither will come close to having the historical impact as
the current debacle.
