I think a small step was taken in overcoming that brittleness in the SMASH
architecture (Simple, Many and Self-Healing) that IBM will use in its new
hyper-computer Blue Gene. If any of the one million processors malfunctions
the entire computer doesn't die it just slows down a little, the same is true if
any of the 8 million simultaneous computational threads runs into trouble.
