I know exactly why, at least in my case. The Singularity matters to me for
reasons which are not dependent on my own continued existence. I have a place
in the Singularity and, if I found out I had a hard time limit, the most
valuable contribution I could make would be to try and minimize the size of
the hole left by my departure.
