Good review - and a good book, I might add. Kurzweil has the unusual ability
to convey technological and scientific information with a light touch, which
is probably why this book has sold so well, but also why many less sprightly
scientists have objected to it.
My only quibble with your review is that you said "a few important
technologies such as cryonics were neglected." In fact, Kurzweil did mention
cryonics and even Alcor by name. However, it was only a mention (one or two
sentences) and could easily be deemed, shall we say, benign neglect.
