Wash out your mouth with soap, Grigg! This is not a cult. For those of us
with a smattering of evolutionary psychology, this isn't even a
hunter-gatherer tribe! I have no authority over any other Singularitarian -
nor, for that matter, over any other living thing - and if other people care
what I think, it's only because we're walking in the same direction.
I suggest that you read the Singularitarian Principles. Pay particular
attention to the Principle of Independence.
