This discussion of borganization brings to mind someone I know (not on this
list) for whom any discussion is synonymous with no-holds-barred combat. I
would characterize him as an arrogant s.o.b. :) Finding oneself in a borg
interface with this person, especially if there were no retreating from the
interface, would be equivalent to being in warfare for survival.
I imagine the subjective experience of borganization in general would very
often be similar to finding oneself one of the personalities of a person
with multiple personality disorder. Conflict would be very likely.
The conclusion I draw from these thought experiments is that I would want
psychotherapy to become a mature discipline and all of the participants in
the borganization to be thoroughly healed of all psychological scarring and
stress lines before they attempted an interface. Perhaps there should first
be a mastery of the limbic system in line with David Pearce's Hedonistic
Imperative.
More generally, this would be a good thing before undertaking many of the
augmentations that we extropians look forward to. Otherwise we might create
some very dangerous situations.
