Contrary to a couple of other folks, Eliezer, I *do* think it's a good
thing to choose your own name. However, I agree with John Clark (whose
thinking stands out vastly more than his name!) that you don't want to pick
something too ordinary just to be easy.
Take your time. Try out a few possibilities. It took me a year before I
found a surname that I liked. (I already liked my first name, and so
readopted it as part of my full name, while dropping a middle name that I
had never used.)
Besides, think of all the cool people who have changed their names--Lenin,
Stalin... uh, I'll stop now.
