Where'd you get this figure, Spike? I'd expect total consumption to be
higher now.

Not to mention different lifestyles in which, for example, people didn't
drive as much as they do now. And in which people used landscaping that
didn't involve turf grasses that have to be mowed and watered (I wonder how
many BTU lawnmowers use each year).
