Uh, and while you were writing them, Eli, how did you earn your living? Pay
for your food and the roof over your head and your clothing and net access?
This is not a personal attack, just a reminder that the other day you
posted a note relishing escape from under your parents' thumbs. I'm
guessing that your important work was inadvertently subsidised. Some of
mine has been, too, since over the years I've sought and accepted several
modest one-year fellowships with the Aussie arts council, paid from
consolidated revenues (tax payers who voted in governments whose platforms
included arts subsidies), so I'm not making any moralistic judgements here,
just pointing out that your empirical evidence is not especially
representative of the way most artists need to make a living from their work.

You're a gentleman and a scholar, sir. My accountant and I thank you.
