He didn't really miss life extension. The martians (people that live in
mars) throughout his robot series routinely live to 200+ through, IIRC (i
haven't read asimov for a long time) through genetic engineering (same way
they get their stupid transducers in their ears). This supposedly made them
very conservative cos they had lots to lose by dying. This is why they are
outcompeted by the terrans in the space race.
