Absolutely, the force there would be temporarily doubled, with
joint patrols, and such to get a feel for things. Plus the forces
would be there to make sure the lads didn't try any shenanigans
during withdrawal.
Actually it would probably annoy both sides, since the IRA lads
wouldn't have anyone to antagonize.
Do them both good.
When I was in the Marines during the mid 70's I served with SAS
people, it would do the current bunch good to have the same
experience.
Then you could go back to your favorite pub unmolested.
If it ever happens I'll send you the price of a couple of pints.
