Ralph Merkle has an article on the analogy between decryption and decoding
frozen-brain structures at http://www.geocities.com/longevityrpt/lr52.htm,
click on the link "Cryonics, Cryptography, and Maximum Likelihood
Estimation" (probably on Merkle's web page too).
Merkle is credited as co-inventor (and by rights should be sole inventor)
of public key cryptography. He is quite an interesting character,
spanning these two relatively different fields, nano and crypto.
