Assuming that the studies are done with random enough samples, I would
expect both happy and unhappy people in both groups studied. (In the first
vitamin C study, there was no control, just two groups. One taking 800
mg/day, the other taking 60 mg/day. To have a bona fide control, we'd need
a group not taking any amount of it.) I.e., the happiness factor -- which
should be studied too -- is probably not playing a big role here.
Don't overplay the role of attitude in life. It accounts for something, but
surely not everything.
Long lives to all!
