I highly recommend a 1999 made-for-HBO flick called "The Jack Bull". I
believe it'll play on HBO a few more times and should be available on tape or
disk now. Based on a true story and set in Wyoming in the days before
statehood, the movie addresses basic questions of the nature and origins of
law, the relations of law, the state and the individual and, beside that, is
a damned good western and, as an extra added bonus, contains a superb
performance by John Goodman (of all people) as the territory's chief judge.
Definietly worthwhile and quite germane to many discussions we've had here.
