Ian Goddard is of course absolutely correct on this
one. It feels so wierd to live in a world where people
don't understand that 20 * 100 = 2000.
However, I've been trying to spread a "compromise". My
"compromise" is that 2000 should be known as the
Zeroth (Oth) Year of the 21st century. (Of course,
this implies that 2001 is the 1st year of the 21st
century).
I know this it's silly to get worked up about this, of
course, but I still can't help thinking that
yesterday's hoopla was a sign of innumeracy. Whenever
I can get away with it, I'm going to be calling 2000
the "Fake Millenium" and 2001 the "Real Millenium".
Anyway, happy Y2K!
