I think the lack of adoption is because it doesn't offer sufficient
advantages over bitcoin:1RustyRX2oai4EYYDpQGWvEL62BBGqN9T, which already
exists.

For lightning there was no existing format, and its needs are unique
enough that a dedicated format makes sense.
