As you know Limewire's downloads service was shut down by a court ruling
this past week and since then BearShare has experienced an unbelievable
growth. US daily downloads have gone up from 8K to 62,400K. A chart

*Limewire's Loss is BearShare's Gain*



Limewire <http://www.limewire.com/> users are wasting no time finding an
alternative solution to their download needs. On Wednesday, the day after
the Limewire service was shut down, BearShare
<http://www.bearshare.com/>had a 780% increase in US downloads. Daily
US Downloads went up from 8000 to
62,400 and according to BearShare, the increased traffic has had virtually
no impact on the quality and availability of their service, as its system is
fully scalable. A source from BearShare also mentions that since that time,
the hourly tracked growth has remained the same.

On Tuesday, a U.S. federal judge issued a permanent injunction requiring the
popular Limewire to disable its "searching, downloading, uploading, file
trading and/or file distribution functionality."  It is no surprise that
Limewire users have quickly moved on to BearShare, the legal peer-to-peer
music application. Like Limewire, BearShare enables users to download
content from their fellow file sharers. However, as a legal network,
BearShare has licenses with all the major music labels via MediaNet and
direct.
