The Serenity Prayer sounds like a version of your Flemish saying. On
a psych ward where I used to work, they had a poster with a different
version of the Prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the
strength to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies
of the people I had to kill because they pissed me off.
