Hi Ryan,
it may be something imposed by the publisher, to which the author didn't
sufficiently resist ...
I know of similar cases amongst open and free advocates in academia, who, in
order to get their books published, for them a necessity, had to accept
these insanely high prices, and felt trapped by it ... not sure if this is a
similar case, but I doubt any author would freely choose such a price point,
