Dear Michel,

finally, here it is:

A Copyright Exception for Monetizing File-Sharing
A proposal for balancing user freedom and author remuneration in the
Brazilian copyright law reform
http://www.vgrass.de/?p=193

For a bit of background, on why the B2B flat-rates are no alternative and on
why received intuitions fail us with respect to p2p file-sharing:
http://www.ip-watch.org/weblog/2009/05/11/the-world-is-going-flat-rate/

And an even older text:
State of the Culture Flat-Rate
http://waste.informatik.hu-berlin.de/Grassmuck/Texts/08-03_state-of-flatrate.html

I realized that most other text I had wanted to send you are in German. If
you are interested anyway please let me know. But the new text has all the
essential arguments and the most recent materials, so I think that's the
best to work with.

I think you will also be interested in the Benkler et al. text referred to
in one of the footnotes on voluntary payment systems that will come out as a
Berkman Center Working Paper any day now. Was a real eye opener (iOpener?)
for me.

Please ping me when your text is published.

Thanks & best,
Volker

working on a paper on the file-sharing flat-rate in the context of the
Brazilian copyright law reform which, I think, will be your best starting
point. It should have been finished a while ago but issues, mainly
concerning the Brazilian music collecting society ECAD keep coming up. It's
a great learning experience but it takes time. Please give me a few more
days and I'll send you this article and some older ones for context.
Promised.
