All communications rely on names or addresses to identify the users to
communicate with. There are many forms of addresses in use today but only
two address spaces have achieved widespread usage on a global basis.
Unfortunately it has been very difficult to map address between these two
global addresses spaces which has caused many issues for users and
applications. To resolve this, the IETF has started looking at a new
technology, ViPR, which is based on P2P to map between these address spaces.

This talk will look at the addresses in use today, why we have two major
competing systems, the technology to map between them, and how this will
impact future communications systems including VoIP, Video, IM, and Social
Networking. The talk will also touch on which business models win and lose
as this change happens and why this shift will add one more nail to the
coffin some of the legacy business models.
