Hi Michel,

perhaps you know people interested in collaborating with Julien in such
research ?

Subject: Testing the waters
This is sent to 9 people at the same time. Apologies for the spam.

I would like to have a little constructive discussion on the topic of
*"enabling
artists to make a living without hampering creativity (and possibly while
stimulating it)"* (which already ditches the current copyright/royalties
system, so no need to discuss that particular point). I think it's nice to
keep a wide focus on the word "artist", even though current events give more
importance to the music field.

I've "done my homework" and there seem to be no definite answer to that
questions. Yet.

I'd like to do this through a *dedicated mailling list*, systematically
extracting the constructive elements *to a wiki page*.

Hopefully by the end of the discussion, we'll have a clearer idea of what
alternatives already exist, what is potentially doable, and how good each of
that is.

Then I'll know how I'm supposed to publish my first book :) , and it can
serve as one reference points to the many artists, I'm sure, that are
wondering about the issue.

I write to you in particular because I think you'd be interested as a
producer of cultural content yourself, advocate of the free-society or
capable brainstormer (pick yours).

With the help of a friend, we'll release the mailing list soon. I'll spam
you again when that happens. I won't subscribe you though (that'd be
terribly impolite), you'll have to do it yourself.

If you want no part of that, let me know.

On the other hand, if you think it's a good idea and know some others that
would be interested in joining, do tell them. The list will be free and
open, in the usual way.

More soon.

Julien
