On the sexual monogamy thing, it's probably a combination of three
factors:  unusually high testosterone levels tend to be correlated
with below-average intelligence; people of lower intelligence are more
apt to be ethically opportunistic and generally less likely to care
about any kinds of principles for their own sake (as opposed to an
authoritarian fear of being caught and punished); and people of
below-average intelligence are likely to be more impulsive without
thinking out long-term consequences.  So a "dawg" is likely to be of
lower than average intelligence.

The intelligence correlation with irreligiosity probably reflects a
general tendency to question all authority-based judgments.  The same
gap probably applies to a wide range of other forms of social
convention, as well.
