FYI:

The NEXA Center for Internet & Society (http://nexa.polito.it) at the
Politecnico di Torino and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society (
http://cyber.law.harvard.edu) at Harvard University are proud to announce
that registration for the international conference "University and
Cyberspace: Reshaping Knowledge Institutions for the Networked Age" is now
open.

This multi-disciplinary conference - held within the context of COMMUNIA,
the European thematic network on the digital public domain,
http://communia-project.eu - will focus on the ways in which the Internet
affects universities as knowledge institutions. The discussions aim to
outline changes and questions in order to maximize the benefits offered by
these technological advances.

The conference will be held on 28-30 June 2010 on the main campus of
Politecnico di Torino, Torino, Italy.
Website: http://university-and-cyberspace.org.

Please register at: <http://university-and-cyberspace.eventbrite.com/>. The
event is free and open to both COMMUNIA members and the public at large.

The three-day conference will follow a matrix structure: along with
"vertical" tracks on digital natives, information infrastructure (library
evolution, open access, etc.) and spatial (both physical and virtual)
infrastructure. Three "horizontal" plenary sessions are also scheduled,
addressing the three core missions of universities: education, research and
the civic role of universities within society.

Confirmed speakers include: Prof. Stefano Rodota (University of Rome),
writer and futurologist Bruce Sterling, Prof. John Palfrey (Harvard Law
School, author of "Born Digital", one of the first studies on digital
natives), Prof. Jef Huang (EPFL, architect), Prof. Terry Fisher (Harvard Law
School). The final program will be made available by early June.

A generous contribution provided through institutional funding will enable
the public-at-large to attend; however, space is limited and
pre-registration is required (
http://university-and-cyberspace.eventbrite.com/).

For more information or questions, please do not hesitate to contact the
conference secretariat at: <communia2010 at nexa.polito.it>.

We look forward to welcoming you in Torino!

Kind regards,

The "University & Cyberspace" Conference Organizing Committee
