I haven't seen this on IP and thought it might be of interest to the list.
It contains the best discussion I have seen recently on the economic
polarisation of America.

Add to this that even the CIA recognizes that 1 in 8 people in the US live
at or below the poverty line and only 6.24% of the country makes $100k+ per
year and the picture is bleak indeed.
