Dear friends,

I intend to sign the folllowing document (ask me for attachment if
interested), I'm guessing there will be no objections, it's a statement
saying with support the free technology academy, and become a partner org,
but no specific obligations except a good will to collaborate,

Michel

Hi Michel,

as suggested a while ago it would be good to have the Foundation for P2P
Alternatives as associate partner in the FTA network. In this email I will
describe a bit more about it and propose a draft Memorandum of
Understanding.

The procedure to join has some formalities, to satisfy the FTA Board and EC,
but for lawyers is clearly non-binding. So in fact it is more like a
declaration of intentions to contribute useful activities to the network. On
the other hand we will communicate your inclusion to the EC's Lifelong
Learning Programme, as till this year the FTA is still a project co-funded
by them.

Some useful contributions that come to mind and that we might include in
this MoU could be the following - but please amend as you see best fit:
* provide (online) Guest Lectures (that is an activity we will also pay a
compensation for),
* communicate the FTA (as you are already doing!)
* give feedback on course materials,
* advise on the curriculum (e.g. try to bridge from the current Free
Software focus of the programme to the social sciences - we sh/could work on
a specific track including the next point)
* contribute to the creation of new ones (such as the P2PCourse or others)
* work with us on specific educational activities (debates, cases
studies, ...)

Just as a matter of example I have included these points in the draft
document attached, see section V.

Joining the partnership will give you no real obligations, but only the
intention to contribute, and in exchange we will communicate the inclusion
of the P2P Foundation, highlight it on the FTA website and wherever possible
try to include you in activities that you and the FTA might find
interesting. By now the FTA has set up an important IT infrastructure for
online learning which we could use in joint activities we may discuss in the
future.

After all, for the FTA the expansion of the network with strategic partners
is essential to make an interesting and sustainable project out of it. The
starting point is to share the development and the exploitation with those
willing to do that with us. I hope that you are willing to join this effort!

When we complete the MoU document, the next step is that both parts agree,
we sign it and celebrate it online!

I look forward to your comments!

groet,
