There are several clinics or chains of clinics around the U.S.
experimenting with contract practice -- i.e., bypassing the insurance
system and providing whatever services the clinic offers to all
subscribers for a flat monthly fee. I think John Muney's clinics in
NYC charge a membership fee of around $80. They say that just
eliminating the insurance paperwork removes about a third of costs.
