Faculty Positions at Assistant /Associate Professor/Professor Level
*

The School anticipates having *five (5) *tenure-track faculty positions for
the 2011/2012 academic year in the following areas:

Broadcast and Cinema Studies

Visual Media Studies: Specialisation is open, but we are particularly
interested in candidates with research strengths in one or more of the
following general areas: new media, multimedia, visual narratives,
comparative media systems, telecommunication policy. Research track record
and specialised production skills are both considered assets, as is an
ability to contribute to the teaching of an introductory Visual
Communication course. Rank is open, but preference is for an Associate
Professor prepared to contribute to the School administratively as well as
academically.

Journalism and Publishing

Journalism Studies: Successful candidate’s research should focus on
journalism from perspectives such as sociology, history, law, political
science and cultural/critical studies. Area of expertise could include, but
is not limited to, ethics, comparative media systems and new media.
Preference is for scholars with a strong interest in pursuing research on
journalism in Asia. Rank is open, but preference is for an Associate
Professor.

Information Studies

Knowledge Management: Successful candidate must have a Ph.D. degree and an
active programme of research in knowledge management. Preferred areas of
expertise include knowledge sharing, communities of practice, storytelling,
knowledge assets and social network analysis. Rank is Assistant Professor.

Communication Research

New Media: Successful candidates should have an outstanding research record
and dynamic research agenda related to the uses and impacts of new media
technologies. New media are broadly conceived, and a wide range of
approaches to studying them are acceptable. Possible areas of focus include
technologies that enable or promote social networking, gaming studies,
computer-mediated communication, diffusion of new media, social and/or
psychological impact of new media, cultural influences related to new media,
persuasive technologies, virtual and/or augmented reality. Demonstrated
ability to obtain external funding to support large-scale research projects
is sought, as is the ability to mentor junior faculty and provide scholarly
leadership. Rank is full Professor.

Public and Promotional Communication

Health Communication and Promotion: Successful candidate should have an
outstanding research track record in health communication and promotion.
Preferred areas of expertise include public health, health regulation and
literacy, nutrition and drug labeling, health promotion and marketing,
health technology and health campaigns. The candidate should also have the
ability to teach health and related communication courses in the PPC
Division and be experienced in undertaking administrative duties. Rank is
full Professor.
