Subject: Save the date: 1/2 Nov. Constructing a Commons Based Policy
Plattform Re(markets without capital?): new post

Therefore hbf (german green political foundation) plans an *international
commons conference*, there won't be enough funding to bring everybody on
this lists to Germany, but some of you for sure. If others are interested in
and find ways to finance their participation by their universities/
instutitions, please let me know asap. It's thought to be commoners meeting.

We are currently working on a first programm draft, more on this later. Here
are objectives and streams:

*OBJECTIVES*
By gathering a wide array of international commoners, intellectuals,
activists and policy makers we aim to:
1. Explore the range of commons-based policy approaches and their
respective strengths, limitations and appropriate applications in order to
further develop the fundamentals of a policy framework to support the
commons; and
2. Identify and explore specific strategic opportunities for advancing
commons-based approaches to meet current political, economical, ecological
and social challenges, including a broad communications strategy.
The event will also help commoners develop new contacts among different
commoners with shared interests.

*ISSUES: *
*Stream 1:* The Commons and the (global) political economy of the commons as
a critique of the status quo and as a challenge for classical economic
patterns & thinking and a new narrative of the 21 century (critique of
market and state fundamentalism from a commons & civil-society oriented
point of view, towards a new social contract)
*Stream 2: *The Commons and a new social contract: commons & state, commons
& 'markets', commons & citizenship, commons oriented multilateralism 2.0,
partner state models, social charters, meta-governance approachs (peer
governance, policentric governance)
*Stream 3: *Commons sound business models: The commons as new open
infrastructure and framework (infrastructure-building, open business models,
entrepreneurial ecologies, ownership models, open money, etc.)

So, please SAVE THE DATE: NOVEMBER 1/2, 2010

Best
