Well, I'd like to see the collapsing cost of capital outlays for
entering the desktop publishing market lead to the destruction of the
old corporate publishing industry, the combination of affordable
desktop sound editing technology and filesharing destroy the corporate
music industry, etc.

Here's a post on a micropublisher who seems to have a viable business
model based on a few hundred $$ worth of equipment:

Getting back to all the points Rushkoff raised about the tech industry
destroying the California economy, when the capital outlays for
entering the publishing industry fall by two orders of magnitude, what
are the venture capitalists going to do with all that money nobody
needs? Especially when all the bubbles they used to invest their
suplus capital in have collapsed?
