Kevin,

I agree with your first comment about the problem of mischaracterising the views of others, that is why I explained that there never was a general equation of anti-finance with anti-semitism. This is the point I wanted to make. The radical German left in the 80s and 90s sure had many flaws, but it didn't get that silly.

You then continue and write about 'descriptions of objective reality' and 'Inaccurate perceptions of reality' and then you bring in this email the Nazi-numbers-example. The point with reality is that it is always subjective, there is no objective decription. One doesn't have to be a social constructivist to ackknoeldge that different people see and experience different realities.

Furthermore, reactions to injustice are always moral reactions, and moral reactions cannot be measured in terms of numbers or other forms of accuracy. In my view severe forms of injustice should produce severe reactions. I'd prefer this to moderate reactions (e.g. this is how the UK deals with its colobial past, which is pretty disguting to say the least). The attempt of the radical (Anti-german) German left to bring to light and then attack all forms of anti-semitism (and get it wrong sometimes) was not some mad overreaction, but a moral necessity.

Andreas

I meant to add, if the Nazis said 2+2=3, it is still an overreaction
to say that 2+2=5.
