Dear Fellow Traveller,
Best use of knowledge is to set it free.
We<http://app.e-campaigner.com/c/4433651/521/vybPiDd/7TVm?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.skoch.in%3Futm_source%3Decampaigner_email_marketing_system%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_content%3D4433651%26utm_campaign%3DLaunch%2520of%2520Largest%2520Independent%2520Knowledgebase%2520on%2520Digital%252C%2520Financial%2520and%2520Social%2520Inclusion>have
decided to share our action research knowledge of the past 10 years or
so as India's largest independent, not-for –profit source for primary action
research and advocacy on digital, social and financial inclusion issues. The
repository features videos, case studies, lectures and papers based on our
direct innumerable field visits across the country spanning a decade;
workshops and national consultations – all done with a passion, a commitment
and supported by only our own resources. This repository is also housed in
the Centre for e-Governance, Ministry of Communications and IT, Government
of India. The Knowledge is divided into areas of:
*e-Governance and digital

*: The formidable story of change management in a largely regulated
environment and the heroic tales of our public sector coming up trumps in
face of global adversities- features cases on almost all major financial
inclusion initiatives in India.Infrastructure, Education, Security and
Disaster Management and history of reforms in India are being updated and
will become equally formidable over the next 12 months.
These repositories and our studies over the years have generated incredible
primary baseline data and information over the years that is now the
foundation of our three major national studies:
1. *National Study on Speeding Financial
Inclusion<http://app.e-campaigner.com/c/4433651/529/vybPiDd/7TVm?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fcorporate.skoch.in%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_content%26amp%3Bview%3Darticle%26amp%3Bid%3D423%26amp%3BItemid%3D509%26utm_source%3Decampaigner_email_marketing_system%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_content%3D4433651%26utm_campaign%3DLaunch%2520of%2520Largest%2520Independent%2520Knowledgebase%2520on%2520Digital%252C%2520Financial%2520and%2520Social%2520Inclusion>
*: already in an advanced phase the interim report will be presented
during the 20th Skoch Summit in July 2009 or earlier.
2. State of e-Governance Study: We had conducted the first *National
e-Governance census of India in 2006 *in which over 22 states
participated besides the central projects. This data was further shored up
over the next couple of years. We are now embarking on the Phase-II of this
study to document the journey since 2006. The interim report will be
presented in November 2009 during the 21st Skoch Summit – India @ Work at
Delhi.
3. *Social Development Study*: We have already studied and documented
NREGA, PMGSY, JNNURM etc. over the years, we have also horizontally studied
Panchayati Raj, participatory democracy and infrastructure and governance
issues. This is again being updated and will be completed by the Q-1 of
2010.
Together, these three may generate a composite inclusive development index
that is state wise and also give pointers to course correctives if any and
create an agenda moving forward.
*Imitation they say is the best form of flattery - it also runs a real
danger of resulting in mediocrity*, so, we have for the time being closeted
the fear of plagiarism and are making available some of the knowledge
on-line with the hope that a billion such efforts may bloom – as equal high
quality partners in the dialogue for Inclusive Growth. We cannot succeed in
this alone. We seek your support in the following areas:
1. To use this knowledge and evangelize it if you find it useful.
2. Existing knowledge bases that you may have from India or globally that
can be featured/linked to our repository.
3. Institutional Support as knowledge partners and domain experts, since
the palette of areas being covered is vast.
4. Financial support to undertake and sustain this very important effort.
Thanks and Warm Regards,
*Sameer Kochhar
