Hey there surfer,

Have you checked the *stats page <http://statistics.html>* lately?  We're
right on the cusp of a giant rollover on the ol' odometer.  Soon, the
millionth CouchSurfer is going to walk through our door.  Let's take a
moment to commemorate that, shall we?  We're not just celebrating the big
round number, we're thinking deeper about what that means for our community,
a community that has always valued quality over quantity.  Let's make a pact
to keep the quality high, even as the numbers grow, ok?  Now, let's make
some plans!





*Million Member March*

We're sending out the call:  Think globally, party locally. CouchSurfing
isn't just about connecting to people on the other side of the world; it's
also about local communities.  We're asking you, our members all over the
globe, to organize festivities in your home area to mark this momentous
occasion.  We anticipate welcoming the 1,000,000th member sometime next
month, so please plan your revels for the last two weeks of March.  It can
be as simple as a potluck picnic in the park, or as elaborate as you want to
make it — parade down Main Street, anyone?

The "Million Member March" Events will create awesome opportunities to
connect with CSers in your own area (hello, quality communities!), as well
as chances to meet the travelers who happen to be around.  It's easy to
create and publicize these gatherings using the *Events<http://meetings.html>
* tab.  "Events" allows you to create any kind of gathering, invite
CouchSurfers in your area, track attendance, and even see who needs couches
and rides.  We're adding a special pull down button to tag Million Member
March meetings, and you can see all these listed on this special *MMM events

By the way, the "Events"* *tab is a great tool for getting your CS groove on
with specific festivities, like the ones being created for Million Member
March.  However, it's not for organizing your personal travel itineraries or
for looking for travel buddies.  If you want to find out about a place
you're going or meet locals or other people traveling in that area, check
