[p2p-research] [p2pf] Launch of P2P Research Group

I'm not suggesting governance mechanisms and I make no claim of
ownership--it is a community that functions openly, within reason, and that
is enough for me.  My point is that academia comes with a very stiff
price--namely that it often doesn't play well with other children.  It is a
very closed system that I have participated in, value and mostly esteem.

It just isn't p2p and I worry that the bridge opens cans of worms in trying
to reach possible dialogues when institutions come into play...I've seen it
again and again and I offer a note of caution.

It is simply very hard for the current academic world to be something other
than what it is--and in my opinion, the academy is a worldview that is
relatively consistent and problematic.  Partnerships with governments,
businesses, NGOs, etc. not done on academia's terms typically develop
poorly, in my general experiences.  People in academic lives have very
specific agendas and those rarely mesh with action research.  Times may well
be changing for all I know or perhaps my own perspective is severely flawed.
