In my mind it's never about growth per se but about continuous flows... The
river flows because of accumulation and melting of snow on the mountain top
(or underground water accumulation from rain) and that's part of a system of
flows involving heat, water, vapor, and wind (and probably others)
The point is as long as there is a continuous flow of energy in the system
then you can have prosperity (assuming fair distribution of resources etc)
... but at some point you reach a capacity limit (or logistic threshold) and
you need to either grow the pond or shrink the population.. I vote for
growing the pond!
