Guest Editor Kevin Goheen discusses the editorial theme of Education.

Justin Davidson from Datamonitor examines which types of open source
solutions are best suited to the education market.

Steven Muegge, Monica Mora, Kamal Hassin, and Andrew Pullin from Carleton
University present the potential for open educational resources to reshape
education systems around the world.

Jan Hylén from Metamatrix provides an overview of the recent survey, from
the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, of institutions
which produce and use open educational resources.

David Rich from Interactive Supercomputing Inc. provides examples of the
benefits of combining proprietary and open source solutions in high
performance computing environments.

Carl Grant from CARE Affiliates provides a practical approach for
determining the suitability of open source library solutions.

Art Rhyno from the University of Windsor introduces a collaborative effort
between Canadian universities to produce an open source integrated library
system.

Steven Muegge from Carleton University provides key messages from his
recent lecture on predictive theory for the pragmatic manager. The slides
and audio from this presentation are available for download.

This issue also contains many upcoming open source events.
