A bit short, but it seems to fit in with what I read in SciAm a few years
back, where an article sought to link bipolar disorder with at least some
creative geniuses. I'm not sure how well that really works, but it is an
interesting area.

Another mental problem that can have creative effects is temporal lobe
epilepsy, which seems to have been the problem for Dostojevsky and van
Gogh, and I suspect may have been involved in the life of Scriabin (his
music gives a quite good image of the exalted visions of a temporal lobe
epileptic).

I really would like to find a way to (safely) experience some of these
states, to try them out and see if I could use some of them in practical
ways and then return to "normality".
